Scenory for "The Man of Mode"

http://www.furniturehistorysociety.org/newsletter_168.pdf

I found this link to be very helpful not only by showing pictures of the furnishing for the time period but also giving the history of the furniture. However, there is a draw back to this page and that is it only gives you a few or the pieces of the time. Although I’m sure by joining their membership one could find many more helpful pieces to set the stage with.

This is a web page that I really enjoyed looking trough. It shows many buildings from all over the world to fit the time period and gives perspectives in many ways it even has links on some of the building so that you may find them on Google earth and see a three-d image of what they may or do look like today. This page gives an idea of the lines and styles they used during this period.

About.com is a page that I never really played around with before this but will definitely use again in the future. It has wonderful picture that give a great idea of the colors and themes to use in a production and can be used for much more. This page also shows you current buildings that would have fit right in during the 1600s.

This was an interesting read and in some ways very helpful. I believe it makes designing a little easier if you completely understand what has, is, and will happen. This page gives you a brief idea of how housing has change and will change. By knowing some of these things it might help to avoid problems early on.

A stage is not complete with out furnishings to go on the set and this site gives that and much more. This site could be used for many different period and styles. It is a very easy site to get around and very simple for those who do not like having to hunt for different categories everything is laid out right in front of you.

Here is a way to get an idea of which direction to go. Setting a stage can be very difficult if you’re not sure what look you want to obtain and trying to stay in the period the director has set for you. This page shows many different models and resorted pieces and even gives the year or at least the decade it was made.

There are some directors that like to change the style of the play to a different place but stay with the same time just so the audience will have more in common with the play or at least recognize the setting. This page gives American architecture in many different periods for the directors that want to go out of the box.

Here are some examples of homes that are better known to us then those that are in England and still in the right style and period. A very helpful page for those who need more visual examples the written descriptions of a style, not everyone can visualize what the person who wrote the description had in mind.

While the exterior of a house can tell you a lot about the style of the house and even give you insight to what the interior might look like here is a page that has some shoots of interiors. In these pictures you can even see some of the detail and decoration that would have been on the walls at the time.

Here are a few more interiors. However, this would be for lower class people in stead of the high class homes on some of the other pages that I have pulled. Some times simple can say a lot more the elaborate and fancy interiors. A designer can actually help the director if they wish to show a character as simplistic.
